Miley Cyrus joined a long list of celebrities who have paid tribute to the late Tom Petty after his untimely death on Monday (Oct. 2) at age 66. During the fourth night of Miley’s week-long residency on The Tonight Show, the singer performed a moving cover of Petty’s “Wildflowers.”
Miley’s father Billy Ray Cyrus accompanied her onstage, contributing background vocals and acoustic guitar. Petty’s famous lyrics fit well within Miley’s Younger Now image, “You belong with your love on your arm/You belong somewhere you feel free," she sang while wearing a sparkly pink dress. Earlier this week, Miley performed the same cover on The Howard Stern Show.
Earlier in the show, Miley joined Jimmy, Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot, and The Roots’ Tariq Trotter for Gadot’s first ever game of charades. The team ensured Gadot she did great immediately after the first round, as Fallon struggled to guess the title of the Bruce Springsteen song “Born to Run” after what should have been some pretty obvious clues from Gadot.
Miley was more than excited when teammate Trotter guessed Johnny Cash's “Ring of Fire" within seconds and she and Fallon went head-to-head in the final round, wildly gesturing to their partners in a vain effort to get them to say the title of a popular, gravity-defying Lionel Richie hit.
Cyrus and Fallon also channeled the most irritating people on the planet during the “No B.g.Deal” sketch, a fake Bravo talk show that nobody will ever want to watch. Each and every annoying phrase was coated in vocal fry, as the two one-upped each other’s not-so-humble brags before trying to play it cool by adding the catchphrase “no big deal.”
